There's Still Nothing Like a Wood Fence
Wood fencing has been the classic American fence for over a century, and there's a reason it still leads in curb appeal. Real wood has a warmth, depth, and character that vinyl and aluminum can't replicate. It ages, weathers, and tells a story — and when it's installed correctly, it looks great for decades.
Fred's Fence installs a wide variety of wood fencing options, including regular cedar, white cedar, red cedar, pressure-treated wood, and spruce. Every install gets the same craftsmanship attention to detail — straight posts, level rails, clean cuts. We back the labor with a 5-year warranty.
For our wood fencing, we partner with Taylor Fence in Howell, NJ — one of New Jersey's largest wood fence manufacturers, with over 100 display sections in their showroom. This relationship means we have access to a huge variety of cedar styles, custom designs, and premium materials that smaller suppliers can't match.

Wood Fence Styles We Install
Wood is the most versatile fence material — it can do tall and private, short and decorative, or anything in between. Through our partnership with Taylor Fence, we have access to over 100 different display sections. These are the wood fence styles we install most often:

Cedar Stockade
Solid 6-foot cedar panels for maximum privacy. Natural cedar weathers beautifully to a silver-gray over time.

Cedar Shadow Box
Alternating boards on each side of the fence create a semi-private look that's beautiful from both sides. A favorite for properties where neighbors share the fence.

Pressure-Treated Privacy
Solid privacy fencing in pressure-treated wood. The most cost-effective wood option, with excellent rot resistance.

Cedar Tongue & Groove
Premium privacy with no gaps between boards. Tongue and groove construction creates a perfectly solid wall that looks elegant from both sides. Available in cedar for natural weathering.

Cedar Lattice Top
Solid wood bottom with decorative lattice top. Privacy where you need it, light and visibility where you don't. A premium look for homeowners who want something more design-forward than standard stockade.

Cedar Picket
Classic spaced picket fencing for front yards and decorative property lines. Available with straight, scalloped, or arched tops to match your home's style.
Why Homeowners Choose Wood Fencing
Timeless Curb Appeal
Wood adds warmth and character that vinyl and aluminum simply can't replicate. Best curb appeal of any fence material.
Customizable
Wood is the most customizable fence material. Leave it natural to weather to a silver-gray over time, or paint or stain it yourself anytime.
Cost-Effective
Spruce and pressure-treated wood are our most affordable options. Both deliver durable, long-lasting fencing at a lower price point than cedar, which costs more but offers longer natural longevity.
